Can you find the hidden clues?
Have you ever thought how exciting it would be to be a Crime Scene Investigator for the day? Put on a pair of Ray Ban’s and pretend that you’re Horatio Caine, from the hit series CSI: Miami, solving crimes one wise crack at a time?
Now there’s a chance to find out what it’s actually like on the other side of the police tape. GoForensic is a realistic simulation of a crime scene investigation, that throws you into the midst of catching the killer.
Paul Terry, cofounder of GoForensic, talks me through the adventure day that has just arrived at Blakemere Hall, Sandiway.
‘Think of it as a 21st century murder mystery,’ says Paul.
The GoForensic experience lets you walk a mile in the shoes of a Forensic Investigator. Just like a hero detective you can piece together a possible scenario and a list of suspects seemingly based on very little physical evidence. Paul tells me that the whole experience is realistic and very much like stepping into a real crime scene. ‘The only difference between the GoForensic experience and a real crime site is the timing. ‘We fast track you through the investigation. We’re against the clock, trying to find the killer before they strike again!’
The adventure day offers participants a unique chance to find out exactly how a Forensic Investigator does it. Participants will pick up a few tricks along the way and be invited to test their logic and deduction skills.
They then learn how a CSI strives to uncover the invisible in order to solve the crime. Unlike other CSI learning experiences that are static classroom based affairs, GoForensic aims to be more hands-on, which fully immerses participants into the crime from the minute they step into the briefing room.
The instructors are made up of 12 currently serving Crime Scene Investigators, combining decades of experience between them; some working on cases as high profile as the Manchester bombings. What this means for participants is that there is a wealth of knowledge at their disposal. So if there is something they’ve always wondered concerning a crime scene, all they need to do is ask.
Why Mid Cheshire of all places? We are used to seeing bodies turning up in the swamps of Miami or the back streets of New York when we watch CSI on the television. What does the Cheshire countryside offer instead?
‘We’re really pleased our location,’ says Paul. ‘The deposition site, where the body is found, is a wooded hollow.
‘There are tipping areas around the site and the trail down to the crime scene is unsteady underfoot. All of this makes for a spooky and unsettling atmosphere.’
The atmosphere may be creepy, but you’re also not far away from a hot meal at Blakemere Hall, with the Coach House Bar & Restaurant just next door. Just in case you don’t feel like bagging and tagging sandwiches for your dinner!
This is not just is this a family and friends affair. GoForensic also welcomes school excursions as a learning or career event. It can also accommodate corporate events, for team building and bonding.
